Aiden Pierce Interview

Pop music artist, Aiden Pierce!

Where did you grow up? I moved when I was eight years old from Texas to California, and stayed there until I was seventeen, so that is pretty much where I grew up. Although I don’t live there now, Texas will always be home to me no matter where I may stop temporarily.

What inspired you to get into music? My mothers entire side of the family was very much into music. My uncles were members of bands growing up and my mom and her sisters have amazing voices. My cousins can play instruments and they all get together during the holidays, play guitars and sing  around the fire. I wanted to join all of the time but, I was never asked and I’m not the type to just jump into an area that you feel you may not be wanted around, so I just sat there year after year waiting to be included and it never happened. Finally, after years of criticism and self doubt, I just decided that I was going to stop putting it off once and for all. I was going to do the independent thing and that’s what I’ve been doing.

Do you write and produce music? I write and produce all of my own music. I go a little overboard with the different versions of every song that I start though. That is one thing that I need to work on. I always make about eight or nine different versions and I am not exaggerating one bit. I get so excited and then I can’t decide. I find one thing I like in one version and I wind up switching it about one, two, nine times and let me tell you, my computers are filled with so many extras. I don’t want to erase them because I feel like just when I do, then I will find a use for that specific version.

What is a songwriting session like for you? It differs. If I’m angry, that’s the best time. I’ll get something good. If I’m sad, that’s another time when it’s good. That’s how my electronica song “See What I See “ came about. I was super depressed and my sadness kept changing. So each time the beat changes in the song. That was for each mood. I had a radio station reach out to me on for that song. The two main guys said that they really like it. I was really angry recently and I just finished my latest remix. Sometimes I’ll wake up out of a dead sleep and these melodies or lyrics will start coming to me and I have to grab my recorder and head for the bathroom. It is always different really, but it never ever happens when I sit and want it to. It’s the weirdest thing.

Has being in the military inspired your music at all? I think being in the military just inspired me period. I joined twice and I would say that I became more confident as far as if I write something, It doesn’t bother me if someone else doesn’t like it. I’m confident in what I’m doing and I’m doing it because I want to. I’m not doing it for anyone else. I guess that would be the only way I can see that it has inspired my music. I’m not going to sing or write about the U.S. nonstop. I haven’t done it yet. I think I know what you were asking. I’m not going to be red, white and blue all day everyday. I love this place, not ashamed of it, otherwise I wouldn’t have singed my life away twice. But, that’s not me. Im not Kid Rock.

What is your local music scene like right now in Hawaii? Oh! This is a bad one for me. (Laughs) I don’t listen to the radio. I also don’t go out to many places. I’m more of a homebody. What I do know is that the K-pop scene is huge here. It has been since I moved here in 2015. As far as anything else though I don’t follow it. I try not to give to much attention to big label artists, unless they write their own music and songs. If they have a handful of people that write for them then I don’t give them too much attention because it’s the person that wrote the song. That is the person that I should be hearing. That’s the one I’m interested in. Nicole Scherzinger is from Hawaii and writes most of her own songs and does a lot of her own music so she is definitely one that I admire and I pay attention to. She is very underrated and unbelievably talented.

Do you collaborate with other artists? I have not. Nicole!?!? Whenever you’re ready!!! I would love to but that would be so intimidating. I say that I have a lot of confidence and I do in a lot of ways on most things. If it ever came time to collaborate with someone, I don’t know how I would react. I would totally love to do it if the opportunity ever presented itself of course but only time will tell.

Have you done some touring in your career? No, not as far as singing. I danced for a long time in a large number of pageants and I got to travel doing that, but not for myself. I’ve never had the opportunity to perform one of my own songs yet.

Tell us about your latest project. I just released a new mix of my song “I Pay” and my new vocals are complete to release my new version of my song “Pierce The Sky”. I’m going to pull the original because the vocals sound off to me. It had to be done the correct way because of what the song represents. I want to bring attention to “Child Sexual Abuse Awareness”. I was a victim growing up and that’s what the song is about.

What can we expect from you in the future? Definitely more music. Hopefully music videos, I have so many ideas. I just have to stop holding back and that’s what this New Years resolution is going to be. So be ready. You’ll be hearing me, someplace.
